Paris-Jaipur Fusion - Happy Days in Paris

Paris-Jaipur Fusion - Happy Days in Paris

I visit Paris twice each year. Just for the day. Someday in Spring and another in Autumn. An early 6.30 flight reaches Paris in time for a late breakfast at Les Deux Magots on Saint Germain, before weaving through the Left Bank streets finding inspiration and joy in tiny shops and boutiques. A treat is to visit a gallery in the afternoon. I confess to eternally feeling quite overcome by such close proximity of incredible art. The outstanding and inspirational work of creative geniuses on display is surely one of the most thrilling and humbling of experiences.

A Kir Royal and Roquefort salade in a small cafe, huddled in a pretty side street, is fortifying before the return to Charles de Gaulle aeroport. Fully motivated  and enthused the designer in me is galvanised into action for another season ahead. Nowhere on earth gives a boost to the soul quite like Paris!

I have worked in the city of lights several times over the course of my career, and with each return I am always fascinated by the Parisian love of block print. Exquisite shops displaying beautiful, hand-printed and artisanal products abound. These subtly coloured and unique assortment of patterns look right at home in this creatively-centred city.  Customers considering and handling block prints display a sense of originality, heartfelt and respectful of this ancient craft.

Our block printed robes have taken inspiration  in their development through these visits over many years. Considered in their cut to be neat. Not the kimonos of large flapping sleeves, but a more precise fit in-keeping with the smartness of Parisian women. Proper pockets at just the right height. Sleeves that finish at the wrist, not flopping over hands and into a cup of cafe-au-lait!

The patterns chosen are feminine. Fresh. Sometimes forest inspired. NoLoGo-Chic robes are seen on the beaches as cover ups. Useful after a day by the pool. Something to throw on after a shower, or getting ready in the morning. They are worn at festivals with shorts and tops. A gift for a friend in hospital, a new-mother, a birthday or just because you love someone.

The intriguing multicultural Parisian- Jaipur infusion is the essence of block print in Paris. And always, that mysterious, womanly, tender, graceful and feminine feeling whist wearing one of our gorgeous robes, takes me straight to the Rive Gauche.
A wonderful way to start any day!
